Spectrum Options In CBD

CBD is a cannabis compound that offers several therapeutic benefits. CBD products are taking the health and wellness market by storm. Cannabis has been popular in medicine since the ancient period. All of its medicinal benefits are attributed to its several constituent compounds including CBD.

In this article, we discuss the spectrum options in CBD products.

What Are The Spectrum Options In CBD?

CBD products belong to any of the three spectrum options, full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate CBD.

Full-Spectrum CBD

As the name suggests, full-spectrum CBD products contain all beneficial compounds in hemp plants. That means the products contain compounds like CBD, THC, CBN, CBG, terpenes, and flavonoids. The THC content is however maintained at levels less than 0.3% as per the legal regulations.

Broad-Spectrum CBD

The only factor that differentiates full-spectrum CBD from broad-spectrum CBD is the percentage of THC. While full spectrum CBD products contain minimal levels of THC, broad-spectrum products are entirely free of THC. However, it contains all the other cannabis compounds as that in full-spectrum products.

CBD Isolate

CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD. Isolate products do not contain any cannabis compounds other than CBD. As even the smallest amounts of THC could cause a positive drug result, people who have to take regular drug tests prefer broad-spectrum and isolate CBD products.

Full-Spectrum Vs Broad-Spectrum CBD Vs CBD isolate

Let us compare some of the features of the CBD spectrum options.

Euphoric Effects/High

The euphoric effect better known as a high associated with cannabis is attributed to its compound, THC. If the level of THC in CBD products is maintained below 0.3%, they will not cause a high as many fear.

Hence full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and CBD isolate products do not cause a high.

Entourage Effect

The entourage effect is caused by the synergistic action of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids in a cannabis product. It enhances the benefits of CBD products. As CBD isolate products do not have any compound other than CBD, they are not associated with the entourage effect. However, broad-spectrum and full-spectrum products cause entourage effect in the users.

As mentioned earlier, THC-free options do not cause a positive drug result by any chance. While CBD isolate and broad-spectrum CBD products do not lead to a positive drug result, full-spectrum CBD products could put you at the risk of a drug test failure.
