August 26, 2020
CBD is a cannabinoid compound present in the hemp and marijuana plants. The compound is known to be an effective remedy for many of the health disorders that affect the human body. Today, the CBD market is booming as more and more people are realizing the health benefits of CBD and making it a part of their daily routine.
CBD possesses many therapeutic properties that will help in the treatment of health disorders like anxiety, pain, seizures, insomnia, skin problems, etc. But still, many people are hesitant in using CBD products because of the presence of THC in some of them.
The main difference between CBD and THC is that CBD is a non-psychoactive compound and THC is a psychoactive compound. CBD products that are made from full-spectrum CBD oil contain a small amount of THC. The amount of THC present in those products is less than 0.3%, which is not enough to create any euphoric sensation.
CBD is a very safe compound that will help in the treatment of health disorders that affect people of all ages. CBD can also help in treating several health conditions that affect children.
CBD For Epilepsy In Children
Frequent seizures are one of the main characteristics of epilepsy. Many clinical studies have proven that CBD is very effective in reducing the frequency of seizures in epileptic patients. These clinical studies led to the development of Epidiolex, a CBD-based medication that is used for the treatment of two rare forms of epilepsy; Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.
CBD For Anxiety
Many studies claim that CBD could be very effective in treating different forms of anxiety disorders in humans. Most of these studies are conducted on adults and we are still not so sure about how CBD helps with anxiety in children. A recent study on a 10-year old kid with PTSD shows that the use of CBD oil helped to improve the symptoms of anxiety and reduce insomnia.
CBD For Autism
A recent study looked at 188 children who have autism. All the participants received an oral solution of 30% CBD and 1.5% THC. After one month of study, most of the participants showed a significant reduction in seizure activity, restlessness, and rage attacks.
Risks Of Using CBD Oil
High doses of CBD could cause some side effects like dry mouth, drowsiness, restlessness, etc. It could also interact with other medications. Also, keep in mind that all the states in the US have not legalized the use of hemp-derived products.
