Can CBD Be Used To Vape Your Troubles Away?
April 15, 2020
Science surely has come a long way, no denying that. But it still has a long way to go. There are people all over the planet that have been crippled by many chronic illnesses. Be it back pain or arthritis, patients seem to have gone down a rabbit’s hole of medication and prescription drugs that they simply can’t do without! The worrying issue that most of the over-the-counter medication poses, is the baggage of cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and even loss of life that can happen over years of use!
We are, after all in the 21st century. And an organic alternative has to be there, right? Yes, that alternative is CBD!
The CBD industry has shown exponential growth with the legality of the same declared in many of the cities in the country. Many countries across the globe like France, Germany, Denmark and Greece have made CBD derived from hemp legal. This decision has turned to a ray of sunshine for many who are fighting day-in and day-out to find an alternative to the prescription drugs.
What Is CBD?
Marijuana has many active ingredients in it, which are all grouped together as cannabinoids. CBD is one such cannabinoid which can be found among others like THC, Flavonoids and CBGA. CBD products can be extracted from hemp plants as well. CBD is a strong therapeutic and is noted for its effects of anti-inflammation, anxiety soothing and pain relief.CBD side effects are meagre when compared toCBD’s benefits
People wrongly believe that CBD is same as marijuana; unlike marijuana, CBD consumption will not cause you to feel up-in-the-air and disoriented. That is what THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, another cannabinoids found in marijuana causes. THC is a strong psychoactive substance, whereas CBD is not.
The Art Of Vaping
Vaping is by far one of the most effective ways to get CBD into your bloodstream. Vaping is done by making use of a vape pen. The vape pen is a sleek, compact contraption that can easily slip into your jeans or bag pockets. You can easily carry it around and get a dose of CBD on the go. The vape pen consist of a temperature controlled heated chamber within which a cartridge is loaded. The cartridge holds the CBD tincture. This is then set to a required temperature and then heated to produce the fumes. The fumes are then inhaled for maximum effect. The whole process is as easy as that.
One of the benefits of vaping is the speed at which you can enjoy the pain relieving effects of CBD. If you are a patient who is suffering from chronic pain or arthritis and you need something to relieve the pain, then vaping your pain away with CBD is a great way to go about it.
The first reason for the fast action has to do with the “bioavailability”. The bioavailability is the percentage of CBD that actually ends up in your bloodstream. The value is different for different products with the first place being awarded to vaping (30-40%). The other forms have vastly lower bioavailability!
The second reason is the route of administering. The fumes that are inhaled, go through the throat and finally to the lungs. The lungs are coated with alveolus, which are surrounded in turn by tiny blood vessels called capillaries. The capillaries take in the CBD and directly transport them to your bloodstream. There is no chance of the CBD to pass through the lungs and then undergo first-pass metabolism, which weaken the effectiveness of CBD as a whole.
The Downfalls
- One of the problems that stop vaping from becoming the perfect method to administer CBD is the duration of the effect. The duration is generally low (0.5-1 hour). If you are planning on having the effects for a longer time such as for sleep or anxiety reduction, then vaping is not the ideal method.
- The fumes can be harsh to the lungs and throat. Although not as harsh as smoking CBD, vaping is still up there. For people who are not accustomed and who are more susceptible to severe respiratory complexities should stay clear.
- The last issue with vaping is the chances for metallic contamination to happen. The heating coil of the chamber is made of metals like nickel or stainless steel. The chances for nano particles to lodge off and travel with the fumes cannot be negated entirely. The nano particles upon entering the lung and breathing tract can do unforeseen damage and lead to a host of other problems. It is advised that you change the coil every few months to be on the safer side.
